01.12.2017, Cologne: Schnittke Concerto grosso with Yorgos Ziavras (conductor), Lika Yakupova (violin) and the Cognimus Kollektiv
The musical dialogue, soon a struggle, which takes place in the Baroque Concerto Grosso between the soloists and the ensemble, is the focus here. Alfred Schnittke's Concerto Grosso Nor. (1977) is the center of the approximately one-hour concert; It is complemented by works by the Baroque composers Handel, Geminiani and Castrucci. not only Schnittke's polystylistic composition, but also the original works show how extensive and varied this musical form is - the Concerto Grosso as a sort of polystilistic form of the Baroque.
The ensemble uses the entire church space to enhance the musical effects and dynamies between the soloists and the ensemble. Spectators can thus experience the music new through the resulting audio impressions. They are part of the music, boundaries between audience and musicians, soloists and ensemble, people and buildings blur.
The CoGNiMUS Collektiv stands for innovative concert forms and music conepts. By adding extra-musical elements or unconventional performance practice, hidden potentials in the music are awakened and the music is viewed in a new perspective.
